DESCRIPTION:The MIKRON Theatre Company are returning to St Peter & Paul’s Church on 17th April 2024 at 7.30pm. \nAll proceeds will be for Salford Loaves & Fishes. \nTICKETS £13.00. \nTo reserve tickets contact Rita McNamara rita@mcnassociates.org.uk /07793206251. \nTickets can be reserved and paid for on the night at the door. \nThe extraordinary life of the radical MP you’ve never heard of…\nIn 1929\, Jennie Lee left her coal-mining family in Scotland to become Westminster’s youngest MP – so young that\, as a woman\, she couldn’t even vote for herself. \nTenacious\, bold and rebellious\, Jennie cut her own path through history. \nJennie fought with her every breath for the betterment of all our lives. She believed that every person deserved their share of the fruits of the earth – for wages\, health\, and housing\, and for art and education too. \nHer role in the foundation of the Open University and the expansion of the Arts Council aided Jennie’s fight for bread and roses\, and in doing so\, changed the twentieth century. \nOh yes\, and founder of the NHS Nye Bevan was her husband. But Jennie is no footnote in someone else’s past. \nTell her story and say her name – this is the one\, the only\,  Jennie Lee. \n

SUMMARY:Mikron Theatre ‘A Force to be Reckoned With’
DESCRIPTION:Pioneering women in the police \n\nWriter & Lyricist : Amanda Whittington\nComposer and Co-lyricist : Greg Last\nDirector : Gitika Buttoo\nMusic Director & Arranger : Dan McGlade\nSet & Costume Designer : Celia Perkins\n\n  \nWith handbag\, whistle and a key to the Police Box\, WPC Iris Armstrong is ready for whatever the mean streets of a 1950s market town throws at her. \nFresh from police training school\, she prepares for her first day on the beat. The reality is very different. Stuck at the station\, she soon finds her main jobs are typing and making brews. \nIris joins forces with fellow WPC Ruby Weston. They’re an unlikely partnership. A two-girl department\, called to any case involving women and children\, from troublesome teens to fraudulent fortune tellers. \nWhat starts as ‘women’s work’ soon becomes a specialist role. \nIris finds she’s earning her place in a historic force to be reckoned with. Along the way\, she discovers the Edwardian volunteers who came before her\, a lineage of Suffragettes-turned-moral enforcers and the secrets that the police box hides. \nIn this arresting tale of law and order\, join forces with Mikron as we investigate pioneering women in the police. \n \nAll proceeds will be for Our Lady of Hope Parish. \nTo reserve your tickets…… \nyou can book directly on line on the MIKRON website \nMikron Theatre Co. :: Tour Dates – Event Detail \nOR you can contact Rita by email rita@mcnassociates.org.uk / mobile 07793206251.  \nTickets can be reserved with me and paid for on the night at the door.
